WatchTV is one of the many live TV streaming services you can now subscribe to. This is a low-cost service and whether it’s worth a subscription will come down to one simple question – what channels are on WatchTV?
In this guide we will look to answer this question by providing a full list of every channel you get with WatchTV.
In addition, you’ll also find relevant background information that might influence your subscription decision. Such as whether you can add premium networks, how much they cost and what are the alternative to WatchTV.
In this guide
What is WatchTV?
WatchTV is a live TV streaming service similar to AT&T TV NOW, Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV. Although, compared to those services, WatchTV is designed to be a highly affordable live TV streaming service.
WatchTV is actually owned by AT&T and this highlights the price point even more. AT&T has its NOW service for those looking for a more robust live TV experience, while WatchTV is the more stripped-down alternative.
How many WatchTV plans are there?
With WatchTV designed to be an affordable solution, there’s not much choice when it comes to the plans on offer.
WatchTV only has one plan. The advantage of this one plan strategy is that there’s no confusion over things. You don’t have to choose a tier or wade through channel lists to make sure you are subscribing to the right plan.
With only one plan available, all WatchTV subscribers get access to the same channels and features, at the same price.
However, the lack of choice won’t be suitable for everyone. If the standard WatchTV plan does not have the channels you want, then there’s no option but to go with another service.
How much is WatchTV?
WatchTV costs $15 per month.
By live TV streaming standards, that’s a really cheap price making this an ideal solution for anyone looking to stream live TV on a budget.
Originally, WatchTV was also made available for free to AT&T’s premium wireless customers. However, the company has since changed its mobile plans and no longer offers WatchTV as a free service.
Those customers still contracted to either the AT&T Unlimited &More or AT&T Unlimited & More Premium wireless plans might still be able to get WatchTV for free.
AT&T wireless customers can check their eligibility for free WatchTV by clicking here.
What channels are on WatchTV?
With WatchTV being a low-cost service, its channel selection is not quite as varied as some of the other services.
However, you do still get a decent number of channels for the price. Currently, AT&T claims the service offers more than 35 channels for the $15 per month.
The quality of those channels is the big question and as always, this will come down to personal preference.
Here’s the full list of channels you get with a WatchTV subscription:
- Animal Planet
- BBC America
- BBC World News
- Cartoon Network
- Comedy Central
- Food Network
- Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
- Hello Labs
- Investigative Discovery
- Lifetime movies
- Taylor Swift Now
- TV Land
WatchTV additional networks
Besides, the channels listed above, WatchTV also offers access to on-demand content. In total, AT&T claims to offer 15,000 titles on demand.
In addition, WatchTV also lets customers subscribe to premium networks for an additional charge.
Here’s the list of premium networks you can currently subscribe to as a WatchTV subscriber:
You should be aware that AT&T is expensive when it comes to premium networks through WatchTV. For example, AT&T currently charges WatchTV subscribers $17.99 per month for access to HBO.
Everywhere else charges around $15 for access to HBO and you don’t need a TV subscription to subscribe to HBO.
Tip: You can set up a standalone subscription directly with HBO for only $15 per month.
This inflated price for WatchTV subscribers is all the more more surprising considering AT&T owns HBO. It also only appears to be WatchTV subscribers who are charged more – AT&T bundles HBO in for free with its AT&T TV NOW plans.
This is not just an HBO issue either. The same inflation takes place with some of the other premium networks as well. For example, you can subscribe to Starz directly for $8.99 per month or pay AT&T $13.99 per month through WatchTV.
What are the best WatchTV alternatives?
WatchTV is a good option for those looking to save as much money as possible, but not completely remove live TV from their diet. However, it is not the only option.
In terms of the price, Philo is the next closest and comes with more features and channels. Slightly more expensive than Philo is Sling TV. Based on price, Philo and Sling TV are the best services to directly compare against WatchTV.
Regardless of the price, here’s a rundown of the most popular live TV streaming alternatives to WatchTV:
