Hulu is currently offering a Black Friday Day that brings the cost of a monthly subscription down to just $1.99 per month for the first twelve months. At this price, this is one of the best ways for new and returning subscribers to save on a basic Hulu subscription and stream popular shows and movies.

The $1.99 Hulu deal is not new although it doesn’t come around very often. Compared to Peacock’s current Black Friday deal, one of the major benefits of the Hulu discount, is that consumers are not expected to pay for a full year upfront. Instead, they can continue to pay monthly, but just at a much cheaper rate than usual.

The Hulu ad-supported plan typically costs $5.99 per month. However, the current Black Friday price drop reduces the cost down to just $1.99 per month, which works out to be a 65-percent savings. There is no code or complicated procedures involved, with new customers able to take advantage of the deal by simply heading over to the Hulu website and singing up as normal.

For reference, there is no way to combine this deal with the ad-free version of basic Hulu, Hulu Live TV, or any other Hulu/Disney bundle, as it is only available to those singing up to the basic Hulu ad-supported plan as a standalone service. Likewise, there is no free trial on offer with Hulu’s Black Friday deal, meaning subscribers will be making the first $1.99 per month payment immediately on signing up.

Other Hulu $1.99 Black Friday deal caveats

As to be expected, Hulu’s Black Friday deal comes with a number of additional caveats, although noting too surprising or problematic. Firstly, as this is a limited-time Black Friday deal, interested consumers only have so long to sign up at the reduced price. The deal is live now and will remain available until 11:59 p.m. PST on November 30, 2020.

Another caveat is the deal is only available to new customers, so existing subscribers won’t be able to reduce their current monthly cost down. However, the deal is available to those who were Hulu subscribers but have since left. The main point to note here is that returning customers are only eligible if they left the service at least three months ago. Therefore, subscribers who have canceled Hulu in the past three months will be locked out from signing up again at the reduced rate.

Another consideration to be aware of is that once the twelve months have passed, the subscription will automatically continue, but at a higher rate. As a result, subscribers will want to cancel before the twelve months have elapsed if they do not want to pay the normal $5.99 per month for the Hulu service.
