Hulu is offering the option to sign up to the ad-supported plan for just $0.99 per month, resulting in a saving of around 85 percent compared to the usual monthly cost. This is a Black Friday deal and a great way to save on the monthly cost of a Hulu subscription, so long as the individual or household is fine with seeing ads.

Hulu offers both live TV and on-demand subscriptions. With its basic Hulu service, consumers have the option of choosing between two main plans which mainly differ on the inclusion of ads. For $12.99 per month, consumers can sign up to the Hulu (No Ads) plan and skip the ads on videos, in addition to the ability to download shows to watch offline. The standard Hulu plan lacks the download option and includes ads, but drops the price down to $6.99 per month.

For Black Friday, Hulu is dropping the price of the ad-supported plan all the way down to just $0.99 per month, marking a significant discount on the usual $6.99 per month cost. Technically this Black Friday deal goes live on Friday but it is possible to sign up at the lower rate right now through the Hulu website. Regardless of whether signing up now ahead of the official launch or waiting until after Thanksgiving, the promotion is set to expire at 11:59 PM PST on November 29, 2021.

To put this deal into perspective, the total cost for the ad-supported Hulu plan over the year would be $11.88. This is compared to the $83.88 total cost for Hulu over twelve months at $6.99 per month, resulting in an overall savings for the year of $72. An even simpler way of looking at the deal is one year’s worth of Hulu is currently the cost of two months.

As to be expected, there are some caveats with a promotion like this. The first is that it is only available to new and ‘eligible returning’ subscribers. The latter of which means a consumer must not have been a Hulu subscriber in the past month, even if they are not currently signed up to the service. All current Hulu subscribers, regardless of the plan, are unable to sign up to this Black Friday deal.

Another caveat to be aware of is that there is no free trial available when signing up at this discounted rate. Although not a major issue considering the discount, it does mean consumers will have to make the first payment immediately upon signing up. It is also worth noting that automatic billing is in effect here, so once the discounted period has come to an end, subscribers will automatically be charged the full rate for the Hulu ad-supported plan unless they cancel before then.
